  Making Magic

  Welcome to Making Magic, a little section at the end of the book where I can give readers a glimpse at what I do. It’s not edited and my launch team doesn’t read it because it’s kind of a last minute thing. Therefore typos will surely follow.

  The way of the series is akin to a tightrope. In any book, let alone a series, a writer hopes that readers connect with the characters. They are the heart and mind of the story. Plot, while critical, is the skeletal structure. The story won’t go anywhere without it. But it is the hero and heroine that make or break it. And this is where the tightrope comes in.

  A series promises to deliver more of the same, whether the authors says so or not. One immortal highlander must follow another or reader expectations are not met. But the balancing trick is to keep it from feeling repetitive. Each story in this series, though all set in the same world with the same ground rules, focuses on a different couple. So my challenge comes in creating compelling people whose journey to happiness doesn’t cover old ground. Lucky for me, the McDonnel clan is big. :) And the possible paths to happiness are many.

  I’ve already been asked if I’ll be adding to the series. I’m committed to at least five, but feeling more and more like six or seven might be the magic number. If it’s fresh and you’re enjoying it, then I am totally up for it. If you have a minute, and feel like dropping me a line to let me know, I’d really appreciate hearing from you.
